Bothwell-Accurate is a leader in environmental roofing for energy savings and greenhouse gas reductions.  As one of the only Canadian companies certified ISO14064 compliant, we provide both green and photovoltaic roofing.

Green Roofing has been highly popular in Europe for some time, and is now becoming more popular in North America, because of its many benefits over traditional roofing, which include:

Extended roof life

Green roofing protects the roof membrane, which results in an extended lifespan (up two twice the traditional lifespan) and decreased maintenance.

Heating and cooling savings

Environment Canada concluded that summer cooling needs could be reduced by 25% in a typical one story building with a grass roof and growing medium.

Sound Insulation/strong>

Green roofing can reduce sound from airplanes and ground traffic:  plants and growing medium can reduce sound by up to 40-50 decibels depending on the growth medium.

Aesthetic Enhancements

Aesthetics play an important part of improving the value of the building and work spaces. Green Roofing coverts otherwise undesirable space into prime living / working areas with aesthetic appeal.

A green roof from Bothwell Accurate not only provides you with LEED credits for environmental responsibility, but also carbon credit that you can trade or use to reduce your business’ carbon footprint.

Photovoltaic (solar cell) technology has been around since the late 1950’s when they were used to power earth-orbiting satellites. Today photovoltaic modules are being used to provide power to commercial, industrial and institutional building in the greater Toronto area. Installed during the new or re-roofing process, photovoltaic roofing systems can reduce utility costs and eliminate dependency on grid provided power, while also adding up to three LEED credits to your building.

Bothwell-Accurate can implement the appropriate photovoltaic roofing system for your project that provides reliable, affordable green power for your commercial, industrial or institutional building.

Bothwell-Accurate provides 24x7x365 emergency service, on an as-needed basis, or as part of our preventative maintenance program.

Like many other building components, roofs will be subject to climatic and environmental conditions that contribute to wear and tear – but most roofs fail not from age but from neglect.  One of the easiest ways to save money on roofing is to move to a roofing maintenance program. Many of our major corporate and institutional clients have added up to 50% more service life to their roofs and realized significant savings on costly repairs and premature replacement.

Drawing on the knowledge and experience we’ve gained over the last 80 years, Bothwell-Accurate has a strong and effective set of programs for roofing maintenance and management. Our Roof Management Program is constructed around a 20-point preventative maintenance and repair schedule, and provides building owners to identify and eliminate existing and potential roofing problems, reducing overall maintenance costs as well as those unexpected costs that play havoc with budget management.

The Bothwell-Accurate Roof Management Program:

Analyze

Annual or semi-annual 20-point preventative maintenance inspection identifies and documents all visually apparent deficiencies on your roof, and verifies the following:

  • Roof drainage.
  • Condition of the membrane and evidence of ridging, blistering, bare or scoured areas.
  • Condition of the membrane flashing and sheet metal flashing.
  • Presence of ponding, vegetation and harmful debris.
  • Condition of all penetrations, caulk and sealants.

Report

We provide you with a detailed status report on the general condition of your roof, as well as an assessment on its life expectancy.  Our report also includes an itemized list of issues complete with recommendations and quotations for remedial work.

Plan

We work with you to create a roof management and maintenance plan that works with your budget while properly protecting your roofing investment.

Implement/strong>

We implement maintenance activities according to the plan – and will schedule these with you to ensure proper access with little or no disruption of building operations.

Built-Up Roofing (BUR) is one of the oldest most common types of low-slope roof systems that is still applied to commercial roofs today. BUR has a 120 year track record.

The BUR  is a series of field laminated layers of asphalt and (Organic or Fibreglass) felt, with  a flood coat of asphalt and Pea Gravel used for UV protection.

The most important things to consider when selecting a built-up roof are the quality of materials, commitment to quality and the experience of the installers – Bothwell-Accurate gives you all of these, ensuring the best capital return on investment for your roofing project

Advantages

¡  Time proven

¡  Good adhesive characteristics

¡  Fairly good chemical resistance

This roofing system employs reinforced glass or polyester fabrics impregnated with rubberized asphalt, resulting in a lighter product than built-up roofing, with no ballast requirement. The Modified Bitumen system offers greater design freedom with color choices, and decorative and textural finishes.

Modified Bitumen Roof Systems are done in two layers. Base Sheet and a Cap Sheet with ceramic granules on top for UV protection with rolls sizes limited to 3’ wide rolls

The Advantages to Modified Bitumen Roofing are:

¡  Small rolls

¡  Various installation methods

¡  Asphalt based and Compatible with BUR roofing systems

¡  Variety of different colors

The attachment methods are:

}  Cold Process (Glue)

}  Fully Adhered in Asphalt

}  Fused in place by Torching

}  Peel and Stick

This liquefied material is used in inverted roofs where insulation and ballast rest on top of the “pour-and-cooled” two ply membrane. It bonds to the substrate forming a monolithic skin over the roof, creating a vapor and air barrier. Its elastomeric base gives the Hot Rubberized Asphalt roofing system a “self-healing” property.

Cold Applied Systems

Multiple plies of organic or inorganic felts can be laid in the roofing system using cold adhesives. This can be advantageous when the use of hot materials is not practical.

Single ply membrane systems are lightweight, clean, and rapidly installed. A number of systems are available in elastomeric and polymeric base compounds. Working only with proven products from the top manufacturers, we install single-ply systems including:

¡  PVC is the only single ply membrane that is recyclable and most commonly found in white but is also available in custom colours with roll widths available in 5’, 10’ and up to 100’ long.

PVC Membrane seams are hot air welded together.

The Attachment methods of PVC are:

}  Fully Adhered (Glue)

}  Mechanically fastened

}  Loosely laid and ballasted

The Advantages of using a PVC roof are:

¡  Excellent fire resistance (self extinguishing)

¡  Available in a variety of colors (minimum orders)

¡  Great reflective qualities

¡  Excellent flexibility

¡  90% Pre-assembled

¡  Recyclable

¡  Light weight assembly

¡  Used (North America) since 1970

EPDM is a single ply rubber sheet. Most common in black but is available in white with a standard thicknesses are 45, 60 and 90 mil and come  in almost any width up to 50’ wide. The joining of EPDM sheets are bonded together using seam tape.

The Advantages to using an EPDM roof are:

¡  Excellent water resistance

¡  Excellent weather resistance

¡  Excellent heat resistance

¡  Good Acid and Alkali resistance

¡  Excellent flexibility

¡  90% Pre-assembled

The Attachment methods of an EPDM roof are:

}  Fully Adhered. (Glue)

}  Fully Adhered in Asphalt. (Fleeceback EPDM)

}  Mechanically fastened. (Using reinforced EPDM sheet)

}  Loosely laid and ballasted.
